ASHA Workers 

ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers are community health workers appointed under the National Health Mission (NHM). They serve as a vital link between the community and the public healthcare system, ensuring that essential health services reach people at the grassroots level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support and guidance to pregnant women and new mothers.

  • Promote and monitor childhood immunization.

  • Create awareness about family planning and reproductive health.

  • Educate the community on nutrition, hygiene, sanitation, and disease prevention.

  • Identify and report communicable diseases and participate in public health campaigns.

  • Provide basic first aid and refer patients to appropriate health facilities when necessary.

  • Assist in health surveys and the implementation of various government health programs.

Objective

The primary objective of ASHA workers is to improve access to primary healthcare services in rural communities, enhance maternal and child health, promote healthy lifestyles, and strengthen community participation in public health initiatives.
